A word you should know before reading this story: lumen. Our faux-technical definition is: It's a unit of measurement regarding the light you see. The higher the lumen number, the more light output. You probably already know LED stands for light-emitting diode, and this type of light has grown in popularity due to being long lasting and energy efficient. What else do you need to know before reading? Just that there are a lot of lighting products on the market now, with loads of flexibility in how you use them. Magnetic? Check. Portable? Check. Colored? Check. Underbody, built into accessories, capable of charging your phone? Triple check. And that's just for starters. Read on.

Tech: The 3-inch cubes have six LEDs, which are water- and dustproof. They're available in SAE-approved driving and fog patterns.

Quote: "They come with a wiring harness, switch, and 3-year warranty, and can provide more than 30,000 hours of functional LED life."

Tech: A fully programmable, eight-circuit power-management and control system for 12- and 24V accessories, like lightbars. Controller options include touchscreen or switch panel as well as doing it from your phone.

Quote: "These are plug-'n'-play systems with simple wiring that won't interfere with your vehicle's OEM CAN Bus system, saving hours of installation time."

Tech: Available for the '18-and-up Jeep Wrangler JL, it mounts behind the spare tire. It's waterproof and made from thermoplastic to be lighter in weight. The mounting plate is predrilled.

Quote: "Addresses a common issue that plagues lifted Jeeps. When a Jeep is lifted above factory ride height and a larger-diameter wheel and tire is used on the rear of the vehicle, the third brake light is moved upward, out of the normal field of vision. It is often obstructed by the spare tire itself."

Tech: The SAE/DOT-compliant high-intensity foglights aren't just for fog—bring on the dust or other low-visibility situation. They draw little power and you get up to 50,000 hours from them. They are instant-on/off—no warming up. They feature polycarbonate lens and thermal management.

Quote: "Selective Yellow offers superior performance in adverse lighting conditions thanks to the unique attributes of the human eye that make it easier to process light in longer wavelengths like yellow as opposed to shorter wavelengths like blue and violet. This in turn reduces glare, enhances definition, and improves contrast."

Tech: Available as 80-watt ADV6700 or 120-watt ADV 8700 versions, they have mixed-beam light, which is ideal for night driving, like on twisties and wide-open terrain.

Quote: "Each includes the superior lighting distance from Iris Reflector technology with the wide-spread of Elliptical optics to shine a powerful combination/driving beam."

Tech: This 19-inch magnetic lightbar is the jack of all occasions—use it on your tailgate, underhood, in the interior, at the campsite, in your tent, and so on. There are reinforced grommets to prevent wire breakage, and heavy-duty, double-insulated cables are there to ensure no voltage drop. It's also waterproof.

Quote: "The light comes standard in orange and white with all power cables required and includes a dimmer switch, giving you the perfect amount of light in every location."

Tech: It's water- and dustproof, USB rechargeable, has five settings, and can put out up to 150 lumens.

Quote: "The yellow bulb emits light at a different wavelength than other color lights, rendering it practically invisible to most insects including mosquitoes. You might still see an insect near the lamp as it does not repel them; rather it does not attract bugs like standard bulbs do."

Tech: It's touch-activated (swipe on), waterproof, has dual-color LEDs, and is impact resistant. There are five lighting modes, including high, perfect for when your trail ride takes you beneath the rig for wrenching.

Quote: "Powered by three included, replaceable AAA batteries, [the headlamp] will run for more than 3 hours on high and as long as 108 hours with a white LED in low (and even longer in red)."

Tech: Sizes range from 6 inches with 2,550 lumens to 50 inches with 20,160 lumens. There's an aluminum housing for heat dissipation and durability, as well as a wiring harness, relay and light switch, and mounting brackets.

Quote: "Use them as driving lights, reverse lights, bed lights, etc. Mount them on your rig's roof, bed, bumpers—wherever you can fit them."

Tech: It has five amber-colored LED marker lights. You'll only need to deal with the pre-installed adhesive and also connect to existing parking lights for installation.

Quote: "Custom-molded to each vehicle's exact shape and made from tough Dura-Flex 2000 TPO with a textured matte-black finish."

Tech: Here's the way to put low-profile LEDs anywhere on your vehicle. It's plug-'n'-play, connecting to the OBD-II port. Installation is a matter of 3M automotive tape or screws, and in return, you get 15 lumens per each of the four lights.

Quote: "Bright LED lights respond when a door is opened or when the vehicle is unlocked from the factory key fob, remaining on for 30 seconds before fading off."

Tech: Any magnetic surface is a prime locale for this 200-lumen light setup. Meaning, beyond vehicle use, you can add it to your ATV/UTV, bike, or tent, or use for wrenching. It's water resistant and has 130 hours of burn time.

Quote: "The all-new SNAP blends multiple categories of lighting equipment into a unique new system. The light can be reconfigured with different mounting brackets to adapt to the needs of the user."

Tech: These two PIAA light cubes can be mounted just about anywhere you want since mounting brackets and a wiring harness are included. They're street legal.

Tech: The name is your spoiler alert: utility lantern meets portable solar phone charger for overlanding/camping. It's only 8 1/2 ounces and in addition to being rated for waterproof-ness, it floats. It has a 200-square-foot lighting area.

Quote: "Provides over 150 lumens of bright LED light on turbo mode and can run for up to 50 hours on low mode. Recharges via solar power in 14 hours of sunlight or by USB input in 1-2 hours."

Tech: These were designed specifically with off-roading at their core. Each rock light has three RGB LEDs, and the complete set of six pods is easy to install, since there are long leads that connect to a fused control box.

Quote: "The app-controlled settings allow the user to choose from 1.2 million color options, as well as control the timing and speed of lights."

Tech: Sometimes you just need task lighting, such as while working under the hood. It cranks out 1,500 lumens and is contained within a tubular frame and with a footplate as the base. The frame rotates north and south 360 degrees. The built-in hook makes that engine-compartment sight easier.

Quote: "Run time is approximately 90 minutes. With a 2 Ah battery, it's 2 hours, and with the WORX 4.0 Ah battery, the light will operate up to 4 hours continuously."

Tech: Military-grade 5-inch LEDs worth 4,080 lumens each. Brackets are available for mounting these to your winch guard, framerails, or windshield.

Tech: These have SafeBeam, engineered to project light where it's needed, thereby eliminating glare to other drivers. The AirFlux design creates constant cooling, which means squeezing the longest life out of the lamps.

Quote: "Powered by premium LUXEON LEDs, the lamps deliver up to 6,500K color temperature for a crisp, bright white look that also matches perfectly with HID and LED headlights."

Tech: Laser diodes are used here, which is pretty unique. And the reflector for each is 1 1/2 inches, so we're talking uber compact. A variety of lengths are available: 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 inches. Full-laser bars are also an option.

Quote: "The first of its type to offer this technology. By combining LEDs and laser diodes, this single lightbar illuminates all of the primary lighting zones: near, mid-range, and long distance."
